Woman Mauled To Death By Sausage Dogs

Tracy Garcia, a 52-year-old woman from Oklahoma, was attacked by seven dachshunds last Thursday in southern Oklahoma. Garcia was near her house when her neighbor’s sausage dogs attacked the woman, causing severe injuries that she later died from.

Upon arriving at the scene, police officers were charged by one of the dogs – resulting in one of the officers shooting it. The other six dogs involved in the attack were euthanized at a nearby veterinary office at the owner’s request. All of the dachshunds were crosses, one larger one possibly mixed with a border collie, and six smaller ones with an unknown breed of terrier. Each of the dogs weighed less than 40 pounds – 18 kilograms – and were shorter than knee height.

“The predominant breed in these dogs is definitely standard dachshund,” Amanda Dinwiddie, a euthanasia technician at Ardmore Animal Shelter, told local media. “They have really noticeable characteristics like their knobby legs, knees, very short-legged dogs and their coats.” Dinwiddie also added that the dogs were “infested with fleas and ticks. We were cleaning ticks off ourselves all day. You can tell they have been living out in the woods.”

No charges have been made by police at this time, however Carter County sheriff’s office is still conducting an investigation.
