South African King Sentenced To 12 Years In Prison

Being royalty obviously has several benefits and it can get you out of a lot of trouble, but South African King Buyelekhaya Dalindyebo learned the hard way that some actions are completely unjustifiable, royalty or not. The Supreme Court of Appeals has sentenced Dalindyebo to 12 years of prison after he was found guilty of several charges, including arson, assault and kidnapping.

Dalindyebo had already been sentenced to 15 years in prison after a court found him guilty in 2009, but he approached the Supreme Court of Appeals to dispute the sentence.

All the cases that he had been found guilty of had occurred nearly two decades ago. This includes kidnapping a women and her six children, setting their home ablaze and beating a young person to death. Surprisingly enough, Dalindyebo did not dispute any of the charges levied against him, claiming that his actions were justifiable as he was only trying to discipline his subjects.

The case had already been delayed several times, with the defendant changing lawyers 11 times during the course of the trial, leading to over 30 postponements. Despite all the delays, however, it appears that justice has been served.
