Man Robs Bank To Pay For Daughter’s Cancer Treatment
A Michigan father told police that he decided to rob the neighborhood Vibe Credit Union to help pay for his one-year-old daughter’s chemotherapy sessions. 23-year-old Brian Daniel Randolph told police that his insurance would no longer pay for his daughter’s cancer treatments and the money from the bank robbery was his last hope to pay for the chemotherapy.
According to reports, Randolph handed a bank teller a letter stating that he hand a gun and wanted $20,000. The teller gave him $9,000 cash. Police arrested Randolph two days later thanks to tips on social media. Randolph’s daughter, Brialynn, suffers from retinoblastoma, which is a cancer formed in the eye that affects young children. Her mother, Asia Dupree said her child’s father was depressed and really needed the money.
“I guess it was desperation. Time was ticking right before her appointment came up. I’m not sure what he was thinking at that point, but at the end of the day the only thing I can think about is him trying to take care of his child.”
Brian Daniel Randolph was charged with bank robbery, armed robbery and his bond is set at $500,000. He could face up to life in prison.
