Drivers Who Illegally Park In Handicap Spot Get A Scary Shock

Dislife.ru, in partnership with advertising agency Y&R in Moscow, created hologram projections to spook drivers that try to illegally park in handicap spaces without a windshield handicap sticker.

This powerful social experiment, called ‘More Than a Sign’, was made to raise awareness about the rights of people with disabilities and to encourage drivers not to wrongfully take handicap spaces. The Russia-based non-profit organization “installed the digital signage in business centers and shopping malls – including Europe’s largest mall Aviapark.

During the experiment every time a car approaches, hidden cameras are used to detect whether or not the vehicle has a handicap sticker. If there is no sticker, a hologram of a person with disabilities suddenly appears in the parking space.

According to People Magazine, The graphic appears to come to life with audio: “What are you doing? I’m not just a sign on the ground. Don’t pretend that I don’t exist. Why are you surprised? This is a parking spot for the disabled.”

The reactions to the spooky holograms were filmed as video clips captured moments when the shocked drivers jumped from their vehicles to examine the eerie holograms.
