China’s Extremely High Glass Bridge Has Cracked
China recently made the investment to insert a glass-bottomed walkway within one of their national parks. This would allow tourists to look down underneath their feet and see for hundreds of feet towards the ground below.
Unfortunately, everyone grew a bit terrified when one tourist spotted a crack in the glass, not long after the construction had completed. This u-shaped structure was considered phenomenal architecture within the country, but that probably won’t be the case for much longer.
The walkway, which is setup in Yuntai Mountain Geological Park in Henan Province, is exactly 3,540 feet above the ground. Basically, this is the type of bridge you don’t want to fall through, as it will mean certain death.
Weibo, the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, had a couple of people posting about the event, saying: “A lot of people started to scream. I screamed out, ‘It cracked! It really cracked!’ and then I pushed the people in front of me so that we could run out of the way.”
A spokesperson said someone dropped a stainless steel thermos on the glass-walking path, damaging it. They said that no one within the public was in any form of danger, thankfully. The park has been closed for repairs due to this, though.
